A Chemical Reactor is a specially designed process vessel used to perform chemical reactions under controlled conditions of temperature, pressure, residence time, and mixing intensity. The reactor facilitates the conversion of reactants into desired products while ensuring efficient heat and mass transfer, reaction control, and process safety.
Chemical reactors are typically equipped with agitation systems for uniform mixing, heating or cooling jackets/coils for temperature control, and process instrumentation for monitoring parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow. The design may be batch, semi-batch, or continuous depending on the process requirements.
Reactors are manufactured using materials such as Carbon Steel (CS), Stainless Steel (SS304/SS316), Alloy Steel, or special alloys depending on the chemical compatibility and operating conditions. They are designed and fabricated in accordance with relevant pressure vessel and process equipment standards to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Chemical reactors are widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, polymer, resin, and specialty chemical manufacturing industries for processes such as polymerization, neutralization, oxidation, and synthesis reactions.
